Facebook Timeline: Curating your digital life

At yesterday’s f8 Developer Conference, Facebook unveiled the biggest update to its social networking platform since it launched in 2004. I’m not going to get into all the technical aspects of Timeline. And I’m not going to get into the Facebook versus Google debate or pontificate about which will win in the end (in this post at least). I can’t predict that. I do know that Facebook has a huge lead in the space. It’s becoming another Web, a second Web if you will.

Here are my first reactions to Facebook Timeline, in the form of curated tweets by myself and others that were posted as the new design was unveiled yesterday. As you can see, I used Storify for this post, another great tool for curating and telling a story.

Thanks for your comment, Candice. Regarding the impact, it's the question on the minds of a lot of marketers right now. Facebook has always has been about the user, so for now, we need to watch how the users react to the changes and how it affects their behavior. As more and more context comes to light around the sharing (reading, watching, etc.), these actions are sure to affect the buying decisions of consumers.
