Leasing Services for Kimco Realty
More important though, Diane and her team recognized they needed to learn about these communications channels and determine whether Kimco, an $8 billion REIT, would gain value from incorporating blogging and other social media strategies into its investor relations and overall communications programs.
Today, Kimco has a vibrant blog -- intently followed by its investors and tenants -- as well as 11 Facebook pages, two Twitter handles, and a YouTube page. Blogging and social media play an important role in Kimco's IR initiatives, and also help the company's tenants improve their retail traffic and customer experience.
But there's much more to the story than this. We are very fortunate to announce today that Diane has graciously agreed to provide a closer look during our upcoming webinar, "The Socialization of IR: How to Drive Shareholder Value Through Social Media."
Diane will share Kimco's blogging story -- why the company decided to blog, how her team gained C-suite buy-in, how they are managing and growing the blog, how they ensure it complies with various regulations, and some of the results they've achieved to date.
Chief among these results has been the added value Kimco's blog has provided the company's institutional investors. Over the past few months, several of Kimco's investors have even taken the time to write to the company's CEO, Dave Henry, to laud the blog's content.
The industry has also been recognizing Kimco's blogging leadership. The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the #1 trade organization for Kimco's industry, gave Kimco's blog a 2012 U.S. MAXI Award in the "New Media-Best Use of Social Media" category. The ICSC also asked Diane to speak at this year's MOCIAL conference about how to build a successful corporate blog. Most recently, Ragan's PR Daily named Kimco's blog a finalist for the publication's Digital PR and Social Media Awards in the "Best Use of SEO" category.
What's more, Kimco's management recognizes that the blog has figured directly into achieving their business objective -- to engage and build relationships with tenants and investors. So, we thank Diane in advance for offering to share tips you can take back to your team to improve your understanding and gain internal advocacy for your blogging initiatives.
Don't forget to bring your questions, too, because we'll have a Q&A session where Diane as well as our other speakers -- Laura Paugh, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations at Marriott, and her colleague, Thomas Marder, VP-Managing, Corporate Relations -- will be able to provide guidance on helping you get started with a blog that will enhance your IR program. And if that's not enough to convince you attend, one lucky participant will be selected at the end of the webinar to win a $250 Amazon gift card.
